Save the date - The Final iNext-Discovery Consortium Meeting & 4th Symposium on Recent Advances in Cryo-EM

Two joint scientific conferences - The Final iNext-Discovery Consortium Meeting and the 4th Symposium on Recent Advances in Cryo-EM - will be hosted by CEITEC Masaryk University, Brno, on June 10-13, 2024. No registration fees will be charged for attending both conferences.

canSERV Call open for applications

The canSERV First Open Call has finally launched! Unlike the previous call in canSERV, this call does not have a pre-defined topic and is open to all projects related to cancer research. Researchers can apply for funded, transnational access (TNA) to services and technologies, from basic research to clinical trials (detailed information in the call text). The call will be open until the 4th January 2024, 14 CET.

The Instruct-ERIC Annual Report 2022 is now available for download via the Instruct-ERIC website. The Annual Report is full of information on the latest science highlights, achievements and technology updates from Instruct and its centres. The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was jointly awarded to Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus, and Alexei I. Ekimov for the discovery and development of quantum dots.

The three Nobel Prize laureates in Chemistry 2023 are being recognized for the discovery and development of these tiny particles, which have unique properties and now spread their light from television screens and LED lamps. They catalyze chemical reactions and their clear light can illuminate tumor tissue for a surgeon.

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics was jointly awarded to Pierre Agostini, Ferenc Krausz, and Anne L’Huillier “for experimental methods that generate attosecond pulses of light for the study of electron dynamics in matter.”

The three Nobel Prize laureates in Physics 2023 are being recognized for their experiments, which have given humanity new tools for exploring the world of electrons inside atoms and molecules. They have demonstrated a way to create extremely short pulses of light that can be used to measure the rapid processes in which electrons move or change energy.

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology was jointly awarded to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman “for their discoveries concerning nucleoside base modifications that enabled the development of effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19.”

The discoveries by the two Nobel Prize laureates were critical for developing effective mRNA vaccines against COVID-19 during the pandemic that began in early 2020. Through their groundbreaking findings, which have fundamentally changed our understanding of how mRNA interacts with our immune system, the laureates contributed to the unprecedented rate of vaccine development during one of the greatest threats to human health in modern times.
