The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2020 awarded "for the discovery of Hepatitis C virus"

This year’s Nobel Prize is awarded to three scientists who have made a decisive contribution to the fight against blood-borne hepatitis, a major global health problem that causes cirrhosis and liver cancer in people around the world. Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rice made seminal discoveries that led to the identification of a novel virus, Hepatitis C virus.

On-line workshop of FAIR data October 1st and 2nd, 2020 – registration open

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Photon and Neutron Data Service (ExPaNDS) project is organizing a workshop on FAIR data. This first online workshop in a series of two aimed at instrument scientists and other facility staff provides an overview of FAIR – data that are findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.

Last July the EU Commission has launched the MANIFESTO FOR EU COVID-19 RESEARCH, to maximise the accessibility of research results in the fight against COVID-19. The Manifesto is part of the EU Coronavirus response, the common European response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Instruct-ERIC Best Practices in Cryo-EM Workshop

University od Leeds, United Kingdom, is organising an online training on the best practises in Cryo-EM. The workshop will be held on 12-13 October 2020. 

Sessions will include presentations on best practice in sample preparation, imaging and data handling/processing, operational models in light of COVID-19, as well as round table discussions focused on specific topics.
