Organization changes of CIISB at the Institute of Biotechnology
The CIISB facilities at IBT have been undergoing the following organizational changes.
Excellent structural biologist and founder of CEITEC Central European Institute of Technology Prof. RNDr. Jaroslav Koča, DrSc. died on Friday 2nd July 2021. His academic and scientific career is closely linked to Masaryk University, both the MU Faculty of Science and CEITEC, where he held several senior positions. He was also the founder and longtime director of the National Center for Biomolecular Research of the Faculty of Science of MU.
Over the course of his scientific career, Jaroslav Koča published more than 200 original scientific papers in international journals and led over 40 doctoral candidates and postdocs. He worked in a number of foreign workplaces, several of them long-term (Norway, France and the US). He led several large domestic and foreign scientific projects. He defended his professorship in the field of organic chemistry at Masaryk University in 1995. He held several important leadership positions, was the scientific director of CEITEC since 2015, was appointed by the government of the Czech Republic as a member of the Presidium of the Czech Grant Science Foundation of the Czech Republic in 2016, and was appointed as its president from December 2020.

The CIISB facilities at IBT have been undergoing the following organizational changes.
To honor the memory of Prof. Vladimír Sklenář, an internationally renowned scientist and an important organizer of scientific activities in the Czech Republic, CEITEC Masaryk University awards the Vladimír Sklenář Scholarship. The scholarship is intended for students of doctoral studies at universities in the Czech and Slovak Republics working with NMR spectroscopy and can be used to cover the costs related to their studies. The intention is to improve the conditions for the awardee’s personal and career development.
The scholarship in the amount of CZK 100,000, which may be taxable according to the practice of the institution and/or the tax regulations of the beneficiary's country, is sponsored by Měřicí technika Morava. The scholarship will be awarded to one person per year.
The application deadline for the 2026 scholarship is February 28, 2026.
