Organization changes of CIISB at the Institute of Biotechnology
The CIISB facilities at IBT have been undergoing the following organizational changes.
We are happy to inform you that Dr. Silke Schumacher has accepted the offer to become the Hub coordinator. She will start working March 1st, 2022.
Dr. Silke Schumacher has earned a PhD in biochemistry at the University Paris-XI, France and a Master in Public Administration from the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin, Germany. She was appointed by the European Commission Directorate-General Research & Innovation as Rapporteur of the Expert Group for the assessment of the EU ERIC Regulation (EGERIC).
Previously, she was the first European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) Director International Relations from 2010-2020.
She was instrumental for the establishment of a new EMBL site in Barcelona and the expansion of the membership to Central Eastern European countries. Prior to EMBL, Silke worked in the pharmaceutical industry at Merck KGaA Pharma Business Development, and as Managing Director of Anadys Pharmaceutics Europe GmbH. She spent time as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA, and is co-author of several peer-reviewed publications and one patent.

To honor the memory of Prof. Vladimír Sklenář, an internationally renowned scientist and an important organizer of scientific activities in the Czech Republic, CEITEC Masaryk University awards the Vladimír Sklenář Scholarship. The scholarship is intended for students of doctoral studies at universities in the Czech and Slovak Republics working with NMR spectroscopy and can be used to cover the costs related to their studies. The intention is to improve the conditions for the awardee’s personal and career development.
The scholarship in the amount of CZK 100,000, which may be taxable according to the practice of the institution and/or the tax regulations of the beneficiary's country, is sponsored by Měřicí technika Morava. The scholarship will be awarded to one person per year.
The application deadline for the 2026 scholarship is February 28, 2026.
