Organization changes of CIISB at the Institute of Biotechnology
The CIISB facilities at IBT have been undergoing the following organizational changes.
On Monday, July 19, 2021, Masaryk university, as a coordinator of the Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB), received results of the consensus report of the international assessment committee. CIISB performance was evaluated using 13 evaluation and monitoring criteria with the overall grade 5 – excellent.
A short text from the committee concluding remarks:
CIISB is a mature research infrastructure that covers an important area of life sciences. It provides a unique and integrated platform for structural biology by bringing together a number of core facilities at two locations in the Czech Republic (Prague and Brno) up to the highest international standards. The established infrastructure has been a major stimulus of biomedical and life science research activities in the Czech Republic that would otherwise be hard to achieve. This led to international recognition as a center, which is successfully integrated by its members within European infrastructure, Instruct-ERIC. CIISB and its facilities are also a reliable partner in numerous European projects…. CIISB has provided an impressive list of scientific outputs both by users of the infrastructure and research infrastructure itself. The list is really impressive and highlights the importance of sufficient funding and efficient organization of national research infrastructures, as provided in CIISB, for the development of scientific activities at the highest possible level.
This result assures CIISB a good starting position for financing in the upcoming period 2023-2029.
Sincere thanks and appreciations go to all CIISB associates for their outstanding performance during the evaluation period.
