CF Nanobiotechnology received a new flow-box
Funding provided by the CIISB4HEALTH project (MEYS CR, OP VVV CZ 02.1.01/0.0/0.0/16_013/0001776) supports acquisition of a new equipment and upgrades of the existing instrumentation of CIISB in the period 2017-2021. Among the first arrivals belongs a new flowbox for the CF Nanobiotechnology, which will allow preparation of special samples for subsequent AFM studies. This will help to deal with either potentially moderately danger microbial agents (BSL cat. 2) or cell tissue samples where the sterility is an issue for long-term running imaging and biomechanical mapping experiments.

The number of protein structures being determined by cryo-electron microscopy is growing at an explosive rate. A report published by Nature on February 10, 2020 says that a revolutionary technique for determining the 3D shape of biomacromolecules is booming. Last week, a database that collects protein and other molecular structures determined by cryo-electron microscopy, or cryo-EM, acquired its 10,000th entry.
