Czech Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology (CIISB)

What is CIISB?

The goal of the CIISB research infrastructure is to offer access to technologies for a variety of users from both the academic and the industrial community (pharmaceutical, biotechnology and agricultural companies) from the Czech Republic and other countries.

Technologies are accessible in buildings of Masaryk university in Brno (provides CEITEC) and in the building of the Institute of Biotechnology CAS in Vestec near Prague (provides BIOCEV).

CIISB expertise covers a wide range of topics in cellular and molecular structural biology and secures necessary support for external users in all stages of project implementation, from sample preparation, data acquisition, up to data processing and evaluation.

Core facilities

The nodes BIOCEV and CEITEC have been selected for their scientific, biological, and technological specificities and international recognition, as well as their complementarities.

High-quality structural biology infrastructure is important for fundamental research to address the societal challenges identified in the EU H2020 programme in areas of “Health, Demographic Change and Wellbeing” and “Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine, Maritime and Inland Water Research and the Bioeconomy”. In addition, the focus of CIISB is in line with the National Priorities of Oriented Research, namely “Healthy Population” and, through its bioeconomy potential, “Environment for Life Quality”.

More about partners

“The CIISB infrastructure aims to stimulate the development of know-how and innovative (bio)technologies by companies and SMEs and their effective utilizations by both academic and industrial researchers in the Czech Republic and other countries.”
