Vladimír Sklenář's academic interests focused on using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to characterize macromolecular structures and the development of this method. In 1990, his study of DNA triplex formation in solution was published in the prestigious journal Nature. Vladimír developed the Watergate method, which is now commonly used in NMR spectroscopy to suppress the solvent signal.
Professor Sklenář's passing on April 13, just three days before his 73rd birthday, leaves a profound void in our hearts and the scientific community. May he rest in peace.
